Some imported Canadian air made the last race of the season a little too cold for some, but the usual suspects all showed up for some pre Mo-Town madness. Considering the weather we’ve endured the last week the track turned out smooth, and relatively dry. The perfect canvas for the masterpiece that was about to unfold.
MOTO 1
This monster of a Moto has me licking my chops for next spring , sure it ended up being a Timmy and Brando throw down, with The Bad Boy showing a little more fitness and taking the win. But in behind was some tight wheel to wheel racing with Long Gonzales in the three spot, followed by the fast improving but desperate for some fitness Loren Lanter in the quad hole. New to WNC, Orlando Castro got faster with every lap he took, and he just pipped Cody Nanney for the five spot.
Throw in the MIA’s Matty “Flats” Borton, Lexi “Girl Trouble” Lewis and me “Slow as Snails” Ritchie and this looks like potential “Mains” material next season…”SWEEEET”
Moto 2
With no sign of the flying “Shawshinski’s” Antonio had some open track to work with and he never looked back taking all three Heats and the overall. In behind Josie had her hands full with Adam Bomb Burkart and Andrew Weidel. In the end she benifited from a turn three tangle between Adam and Andrew to take the two spot, with Adam out pointing Andrew for the three.
MOTO 3
New Novice Jaxon Banks just keeps getting faster, and is turning the Jack & Cager dual into a three man over the top rope challenge. Unfortunately this week Crazy Legs Cager was suffering from a stomach bug so he was out action. But that didn’t stop the MAYHAM, heat one was all Jaxon wire to wire, with a storm cloud of action in behind. Heat two, Jack used his patented “Last straight pull” to nip Jaxon on the line, while in behind they swapped paint and spots. Setting us up for the last and deciding Heat, and it turned into the race of the day. Down went the gate and Jack got the holeshot with Jaxon in hot pursuit through turn one, and down the second straight. Turn two just wasn’t big enough for these cowboys and as they tumbled down the banking, Sweet Emily Grice emerged with the lead and a giant grin, Keaton Moss dodged the carnage and had Emily in his sights entering turn three, but he didn’t see Tripp the torpedo Player slicing underneath and faster than you can say “oh-oh” they were down. Leaving the door wide open for Emily to win the heat , with Colton the Night-Train Nanney to finally not be in the middle of the destruction and grab the two spot. Isaac “The Undertaker” Weidel dodged all the bodies and took third.
After the heats were totaled up and all the noses wiped Jack nipped Jaxon for the overall with Emily grabbing third, Colton hung on for fourth, Tripped took fifth and Keaton just edged Isaac for sixth.
MOTO 4
With Christopher Grice stuffing his chubby cheeks full of Birthday cake, and Eathon Banks holding out while he re-negotiates his contract. It was up to Eli Lanter and Owen Riedesel to fly the Pocket Rocket flag, and they did it with style. Wheel to wheel racing, razor sharp corner moves and last straight pulls kept the small but enthusiastic Weaverville crowd on edge for all three heats. But in the end it was Owen with the win and Eli racing hard in the two spot.
The day was capped off with a bon-fire and some Billy Moss on the grill, then it got dark and too cold, even for this Canuck. Thanks to everyone who helped out, and I hope everyone had as much fun as I did.
See you in Mo-Town
