Mother Nature tried her hardest to shut us down, but by noon Saturday the rain was gone, and with a
little broom work the track surface was quickly turning itself into the velour-like runway of love we call
Weaver-Vegas.

The rust from a long off-season coupled with a few riders showing up with new rides meant lots of ugly
manuals and more than a few hard landings, but it didn’t take long for the usual suspects to shake out the
cob webs and start flying into turn two. Unfortunately for some, practice took a little too much out of their
early-season legs and racing wasn’t an option.(you know who you are, so go do some sprints) Those who did decide to “Throw Down”
put on a show that has me anticipating long season of close finishes and elbow rubbin racing.

The Bad Boy dominated the moto one taking all three, but the action behind him was the real story. The sprint Cup race that night didn’t have as many position changes, and the battle between the Blue Chips and Shanewolfe riders looks like it will be a reoccurring theme.

Moto two,was all Blue Chip riders, with “T-Rex”, Trevor Bowman making his Novice debut. But it was Scott Spieler showing everyone his back in all three motos.

Moto three, was the little Novices with Jack and Cager continuing their ongoing assault on each other, but they better keep an eye on that Girl, Emily Grice gets faster every time we race and this week kept Colton and Skipper Moss in her wake.

Motto four, was all Dylan “Manic” Mundy but Spencer Beylotte and Cody “Stoooooooone” fought hard for 2nd and third.

Moto five, and Tripp Player took one step closer to the land of Novice, edging out the rapidly improving Jaxon Banks and Kyle Stone.

Moto six, Five and under Rookie always the crowd favorite, and “G-Dog” Gavin Bowman rode like a future pro dominating all three motos. Ethan Banks took the two spot in a neck and neck battle with Christopher Grice.

Moto seven, the “Italian Stallion” Bonessi and “Tenacious P”, Peyton McMullen had their hands full with Randy “Smooth as Silk” Sitton, and when the dust settled it was Bonessi with the victory and McMullen edging Sitton for the two spot.

It was great to see everyone again, and if you missed the race because you assumed we were rained out, always check the website, or the WNCBMX Bulletin Board, we will always give plenty of notice if we are rained out.

On a sad note, Mrs. Shanewolfe passed away Sunday morning. So from everyone involved with WNCBMX , our deepest condolences to John and his family.
